Alternative Spring Break in New York!
The City Year/Hillel Alternative Break will feature days spent doing volunteer work focused on human services and direct contact with recipients as well as some physical property work. Projects may include volunteering in local schools, tutoring children, serving meals, building and painting. Participants will engage in hands-on service and use their experiences as a basis to explore socio-economic and social justice issues as well as Jewish exploration through reflection, discussion, and meetings with community activists. Students will also get a taste of New York City through evenings out and/or visiting highlights of the city. The week will culminate with a restorative and relaxing pluralistic student led Shabbat.
